A card transaction declined for insufficient funds

A card transaction declined for insufficient funds means the account’s available balance was too low to cover the requested authorization at the time of the transaction.

This can happen even if the account shows a higher total balance, because pending transactions or holds may reduce the amount available to spend. Some merchants, such as hotels and gas stations, may also request an authorization amount higher than the final purchase amount.

The customer should check their available balance, add funds if needed, and try again once the funds are available.

You can also check the "Decline Description" in the declined authorization details for more information.
